SAUNTERING TOWARD DISASTER

His Royal Haughtiness a few days ago sent a post-it note to his congressional ”minions” in which he demanded action prior to his re-election in November.   A man of few words when not reading from his beloved teleprompter in front of a swooning audience of “gimme’s”, union thugs, and mental midgets, his demands were simple, easily understood, and to the point.

“Dear Leader” prefaced his demands with the phrase, “I know this is an election year but it is not an excuse for inaction.”  His plan of action resembled left overs from previous great ideas that never came to fruition.  I know this will enthrall everyone.  (1)  Targeted tax breaks for favored industries (preferably greenies).   (2)  One more bailout for mortgage holders who borrowed too much money than they could/would EVER pay back.  (3)  A jobs program for veterans…a step in the right direction, but actually pandering for votes to secure a second term (he loves the bennies).

Note the difference between the Obama program and the GOP controlled House of Representatives program.  They passed a slew of bills designed to reduce government control over the economy and empower Americans to put themselves back to work, all without raising taxes or our national debt.  An additional benefit of this legislation would, in fact, reduce the deficit.  One of the most important bills the House passed was focused on the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency).  This legislation would slow/halt the EPA fixation of “getting”  American business.  The legislation would speed up approval  for the gas and oil exploration effort. Additional legislation would block new union workplace election rules (set up to favor Obama unions, of course).  Another piece of legislation would expedite approval of canal and pipeline dams that generate electricity without destroying river habitat.

Here is the problem and the bottleneck.  It is called Harry Reid and his ProgLib controlled Senate.  Lots of luck  getting anything brought to the Senate floor, let alone passed by this gaggle who haven’t managed to pass any kind of budget for over three years.  The House, on the other hand, not only passed a real budget…a budget that actually deals with the nation’s debt crisis.  While Harry and his gaggle fiddled around, the federal government added $4.4 TRILLION to the debt total.

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke tells us America is poised to go over a fiscal cliff before the year is out.  If Obama and Dingy Harry do nothing (What do you think the probability of that is?) taxes will rise by $494 BILLION on January First.  Many believe such an increase would cripple our staggering economy.  “What, me worry?” seems to be the mindset of Barry and Harry.

Think the order to “Pass a Budget” is anywhere on an Obama “To Do” list?   Think that and I have a bridge you may be interested in buying:  it is called the Golden Gate Bridge in San Fransicko.  Senate Budget Committee Chairman, Kent Conrad (D-ND) explains the ProgLib rationale.  “This is the wrong time to vote in committee.  This is the wrong time to vote on the floor.  I don’t think we will be prepared to vote until AFTER the election.”

If I don’t want to loan you my axe one excuse is as good as another, is one way to look at it.  The Progs do not want to do anything that even might detract from “Dear Leaders” re-election.

Of course, it might have been helpfull had the Senate not wasted so many days working on a student loan bill that would save the average student borrower a grand total of $7 per month.  (Big whoop there, huh?)

I guess we shouldn’t let pesky facts get in the way of  continuing the reign of Obama-the- Great, the one we have all been waiting for.  With no budget, His Haughtiness has managed to fail across the board in everything he has attempted.  Tax it if it even moves, by all means.  Every time taxes are raised government receipts have gone down.  Every time taxes are cut, government receipts have gone up.  By all means, raise taxes and continue Obama’s abysmal record of failure.

By the way, do not fret over that convicted and jailed felon’s 40% of the West Virginia votes against Obama in the ProgLib Primary.  That was simply an aberration…a small speed-bump.

Where’s Cleveland?

“The Obama Administration announced the appointment of five new Czars today…”
Oops, wrong post – sorry.

May 7, 2012, Newsnet5.com,  CLEVELAND – Dozens of members of Occupy Cleveland showed up at a Cleveland courthouse to support the five people charged in connection with an alleged plot to blow up a northeast Ohio bridge.

The five suspects — 21-year-old Connor Stevens, 24-year-old Joshua Stafford (aka “Skully”), 26-year-old Douglas Wright (aka “Cyco), 20-year-old Brandon Baxter (aka “Skabby”) and 37-year-old Anthony Hayne (aka “Tony” & “Billy”) – pleaded not guilty during their arraignment Monday morning.

The suspects had the charges — conspiracy and attempted use of explosive material to damage physical property affecting interstate commerce — read to them in open court.

In all, about 50 members of the Occupy Cleveland group went into courthouse. After the arrests were made, Occupy Cleveland said the five suspects were associated with the group, but they were “in no way representing or acting on behalf of Occupy Cleveland.”

The city of Cleveland decided to not renew the group’s permit a day after the arrests, but did not say if the decision was related to the bomb plot.

The FBI said the five self-proclaimed anarchists came up with a plan to blow up the Route 82 bridge over the Cuyahoga National Forest in Brecksville. They were arrested after allegedly pushing a button they thought would detonate a C4 bomb placed at the base of the bridge on April 30.

An undercover informant working with the FBI had provided the group with an inert bomb.

Oh those wacky kids!  What they need is for someone to give them each a great big hug!!!  They are so misunderstood.  Well, if these friendly (and, I might add, well-groomed) waifs are going to get charged with attempting to blow up the Route 82 bridge, at least they’re getting the moral support they need from their ‘buds’ in ‘Occupy Cleveland’…

Yes, that’s right, the nice folks I began writing about last October (remember back then when I said the Occupy Groups were mostly ‘Socialists’, ‘Anarchists’, ‘Communists’, and ‘Union Labor’?  Oh, and remember when a some of you said that I was NUTS?  Yes, SOME of you said that out loud AND in print – didn’t cha?)

Okay, whose wittle cheeks are chock-full of NUTs now, huh?  Whose little face is ‘packin’ nuts’ of every shape and size making they little cheeks so they’s fixin’ to bust???

Hmmm?

Oh yeah, da’s right.  YOU…   Who’s nutty now?  (Read to the tune of ‘Who’s Sorry Now’ by Connie Francis)

No, not me, I’m officially NOT nuts any more as I nailed it last October in:  Fringe (A Little More ‘Red’ Sauce Please…)

And you, you few who doubted me?  You are so BUSTED.

Yeah, it feels good to be me right about now…

Except, well, maybe, it doesn’t.

Because, if I was right about the groups working behind the scenes of the ‘Occupy’ movement, we are closer to the cliff than I thought.  When you have ‘Political Party Leaders’ (a.k.a.:  Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, Barack Obama, Religious Leaders and Employee Unions) spurring on the folks (Communist Party USA, Anarchists, and the US Nazi Party come to mind) who want to push America into Anarchy – well, we’ve got trouble – heap big trouble.

There hasn’t been much said nationally about the 50+ Occupy Cincinnati members who showed up in court two days ago to express solidarity with five idiots who wanted to blow up a bridge, to send dozens, or perhaps hundreds of people into a river.  To what? To give them a thrill ride?

No, you blow up a bridge to make people (who just happen to be on the bridge when you blow it up…)  DIE.

So, I guess I need to ask this question:  Why am I thinking about this?  Why is some guy in his PJ’s drafting a post about it when the Alphabet Soup Corp of Reporters didn’t find it noteworthy at all?

Either one of two things is going on:

1.  The AP is withholding coverage so that the FBI, CIA, and Department of Homeland Security can work stealthily behind the scenes to uncover the ‘Rest of the Story’ and assure that the responsible parties are punished,

or,

2.  Johnny Depp was on the ‘Ellen’ Show announcing that he would rather swallow a ‘bag of hair’ rather than do this

Yes, the Professional Media in American has its priorities.  You can find the Johnny Depp clip everywhere, but not so much as a peep about ‘Occupy’ folks plotting to blow stuff (and people) up.

If it weren’t so terribly sad - it’d be funny.

But, hey, what do I know?  Like I said, I’m just a guy in his PJ’s typing this as my wife watches TV in the other room.

I think I’ll join her for the remainder of the evening in order to catch up with the real news of the day.  Perhaps I’ll find out why ‘America is OBSESSED with Pippa Middleton’

Or maybe I’ll find out why America is NOT obsessed with the going’s on IN America?

The enemy is not at the door.

The enemy is in Your House.

Excerpted from the Weekly Standard, October, 2011In an interview that will be aired tonight on ABC News, President Obama continues to express his commitment to the Occupy Wall Street protesters.

“The most important thing we can do right now is those of us in leadership letting people know that we understand their struggles and we are on their side, and that we want to set up a system in which hard work, responsibility, doing what you’re supposed to do, is rewarded,” Obama tells ABC News.

“And that people who are irresponsible, who are reckless, who don’t feel a sense of obligation to their communities and their companies and their workers that those folks aren’t rewarded.”

Your House.

Your choice.

Choose wisely.

But choose quickly…

Hurry November.  We long for this nightmare to be over and BarryBots to be trudging to Chicagoland, perhaps to visit with Roddie and establish plans to resurrect the Weather Underground with Billie and Wifey.

REAGAN LECTURES BARRY

There is indeed a vast difference in the Reagan Presidency and the Obama four years.  One loved America, brought down the Iron Curtain, and restored American exceptionalism throughout the world.  The other strived to implement Socialist doctrine to the detriment of the American people, established a foreign policy that caused our allies to have “pause-for-cause,” our enemies to rejoice, and displayed a level of incompetence seldom seen in the Oval Office.

Enjoy this Video cartoon and listen closely to the words these cartoon characters exchange.  We’ll be back at the end for a few closing thoughts.  Think long and hard about what may be ahead.

Servitude is inescapable with Socialism.  It has not worked and will not work…now, or ever.  In a nation in servitude, one works more to preserve than to acquire.  In a free nation, one works more to acquire than to preserve because preservation is a given.

Freedom to be all you can be is/was a cornerstone of our America.  Out belief in God and ourselves has caused our exceptionalism.

May it be so again.

“Stand Your Ground” and “Castle Doctrine Defended

Media Matters’ Founder David Brock showed no shame when he was caught illegally using guns for his own personal protection. Indeed, Media Matters’ continues to lash out at others who own guns or support letting individuals use guns for the own protection, even increasing their attacks.

In April alone, Media Matters ran 32 articles attacking the NRA alone. Additional pieces have defended the Obama administration’s Fast & Furious program and dealt with other gun related topics.

Media Matters also attacked me three times over the last two weeks: I had an op-ed in the New York Daily News and an appearance on MSNBC defending Stand Your Ground and Castle Doctrine laws and The New York Times actually had the temerity to interview me and refer to me as “a researcher of gun culture who has held teaching or research posts at a number of universities.”

Media Matters wasn’t happy.

In total, since January 2011, they have criticized me in 25 pieces.

With headlines such as “John Lott fudges gun facts again” and “New York Times citing discredited gun researcher John Lott,” Media Matters attempts to thuggishly intimidate both people such as myself and those who talk to me (my response to their piece on the New York Times is available here). Alas, some people, including those in the media, believe Media Matters.

With Florida Gov. Rick Scott’s “Stand Your Ground” commission holding its first meeting last Tuesday, the national media is again focusing on these laws and it might explain part of Media Matters’ hyperventilating about media appearances.

Not surprisingly, Media Matters has consistently refused to let me post responses in their comment sections. Yet, their claims inflame and confuse the debate. Take their response to my op-ed in the New York Daily News.

1) “Lott opens his piece by stating, “Call them what you will: ‘Stand Your Ground’ or ‘Castle Doctrine’ laws.” In doing so, he is grouping together two laws that are in fact radically different – this faulty conflation is at the center of his entire argument.”

The difference between ‘Stand Your Ground’ and ‘Castle Doctrine’ laws is over where they apply, not what the rule is. Both laws remove the duty to retreat. Castle Doctrine laws apply to attacks within ones home as well as sometimes on ones property. Once you step off your property and onto the sidewalk Stand Your Ground laws apply.

2) “For example, Lott later claims that ‘In states adopting Stand Your Ground and Castle Doctrine laws from 1977 to 2005, murder rates fell by 9% and overall violent crime by 11%.’ But ‘Stand Your Ground’ largely was not implemented until after 2005, making his point meaningless. But “Stand Your Ground” largely was not implemented until after 2005, making his point meaningless.” [Emphasis added.]

The research studied the seven states that had adopted Stand Your Ground and Castle Doctrine during the 1977 to 2005 period, and eight states had these types of laws prior to 1977.

Washington State’s Supreme Court implemented Stand Your Ground rules in 1999. Utah’s and Florida’s Stand Your Ground laws were enacted in 2003 and October 1, 2005, respectively.

Four other states had Castle Doctrine rules. Obviously, more states have adopted the laws since then, and they can also be studied. But for those states that did change their laws during the period studied, there were drops in violent crime. A complete list of the state laws was provided in the third edition of “More Guns, Less Crime” (University of Chicago Press, 2010, p. 332).

3) “While Lott would like his readers to believe that “Stand Your Ground” is a mainstay of American legal tradition . . . “

My piece made it clear that the laws had changed over time: “Earlier statutes affirmatively required potential victims to retreat as much as possible before using deadly force to protect themselves.” But even with these restriction states, there have been certain common law traditions. For example, as the Washington State Supreme Court in State v. Redmond pointed out: “The law is well settled that there is no duty to retreat when a person is assaulted in a place where he or she has a right to be.” Where someone has the “right to be” obviously extends well beyond just inside the home. In the same case, the court noted: “Redmond’s right to be in the Lindbergh High School parking lot is not disputed.”

4) “Actually states that did require duty to retreat largely did so only under the narrow circumstance where the victim could do sosafely.”

As I wrote, the requirement to retreat “sometimes putting their lives in jeopardy.” The problem is a practical one: whether a prosecutor agrees with the victim over whether they had retreated far enough.

As I wrote previously for Fox News: “a prosecutor might draw the line differently in whether a victim had retreated sufficiently. There have been many cases where victims have been chased and knocked down a couple of times before firing in self-defense, but prosecutors thought that the victim still could have done more to retreat before firing their gun.” The third edition of More Guns, Less Crime (University of Chicago Press, 2010) provides examples of this.

5) “Lott’s dubious legal analysis continues with the statement, “The supposedly infamous laws passed in Florida and elsewhere, in contrast, use a ‘reasonable person’ standard for determining when it is proper to defend oneself — requiring that a reasonable person would believe that another individual intends to inflict serious bodily harm or death on them.” Of course what Lott fails to mention is that the elimination of the duty to retreat often means that “Stand Your Ground” confrontations end with only one surviving witness to attest to the reasonableness of using deadly force: the shooter himself.”

True, but very misleading. This is the problem in any murder case?

In the Zimmerman case, the court will have to use other evidence, not just Zimmerman’s words in establishing guilt or innocence. Forensic evidence included the wounds to the back of Zimmerman’s head, broken nose, grass on his back, wetness on his back, and blood splatter patterns.

Despite Media Matters founder David Brock illegally using guns for his personal protection, Media Matters obviously won’t accept that others are also concerned about their own safety. Law-abiding citizens are hardly the trigger-happy individuals the media paint them to be. With national surveys showing about 2 million defensive gun uses a year, the number of justifiable homicides is amazingly small.

6) “In Florida there were 43 cases of justifiable homicide in 2005. By 2009, the last year that complete figures were available, the number had risen to 105. The very data cited by Lott confirms this trend is mirrored nationwide. But while Lott criticizes the media for implying causality between “Stand Your Ground” laws and rise in justifiable homicides, at no point does he provide his own theory about what is really behind the uptick…”

Media Matters assumes that its readers won’t actually read what I have written. So let me quote from my piece: “But part of that increase is just a trick of numbers; it occurs because the laws have reclassified what is considered ‘self-defense,’ not because more people are being shot.”

In addition, I also note: “Curiously, though, this went unnoticed: Over the same period of time, there has been an increase in justifiable killings by police.”

How is Media Matters then accurate to claim: “at no point does he provide his own theory about what is really behind the uptick.”

Presumably, Media Matters hopes that by refusing to post responses on their website that their readers will never learn the truth. But bullies deserved to be stood up to.

John Lott is a FoxNews.com contributor and the co-author of the just released “Debacle: Obama’s War on Jobs and Growth and What We Can Do Now to Regain Our Future” (John Wiley & Sons, March 2)

SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT

The Mess and how Obama “inherited” it

Don’t just skim over this, read it slowly and let it sink in. If in doubt, check it out.

The day the democrats took over was not January 22nd 2009, it was actually January 3rd 2007 the day the Democrats took over the House of Representatives and the Senate, at the very start of the 110th Congress.

The Democrat Party controlled a majority in both chambers for the first time since the end of the 103rd Congress in 1995.

For those who are listening to the liberals propagating the fallacy that everything is “Bush’s Fault”, think about this:

January 3rd, 2007 was the day the Democrats took over the Senate and the Congress. At the time:

The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77

The GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5%

The Unemployment rate was 4.6%

George Bush‘s Economic policies SET A RECORD of 52 STRAIGHT MONTHS of JOB GROWTH

Remember the day…

January 3rd, 2007 was the day that Barney Frank took over the House Financial Services Committee and Chris Dodd took over the Senate Banking Committee.

The economic meltdown that happened 15 months later was in what part of the economy?

BANKING AND FINANCIAL SERVICES!

Unemployment… to this CRISIS by (among MANY other things) dumping 5-6 TRILLION Dollars of toxic loans on the economy from YOUR Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac FIASCOES!

Bush asked Congress 17 TIMES to stop Fannie & Freddie – starting in 2001 because it was financially risky for the US economy.

And who took the THIRD highest pay-off from Fannie Mae AND Freddie Mac? OBAMA

And who fought against reform of Fannie and Freddie?

OBAMA and the Democrat Congress

So when someone tries to blame Bush…

REMEMBER JANUARY 3rd, 2007…. THE DAY THE DEMOCRATS TOOK OVER!”

Budgets do not come from the White House. They come from Congress and the party that controlled Congress since January 2007 is the Democrat Party.

Furthermore, the Democrats controlled the budget process for 2008 & 2009 as well as 2010 &2011.

In that first year, they had to contend with George Bush, which caused them to compromise on spending, when Bush somewhat belatedly got tough on spending increases.

For 2009 though, Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid bypassed George Bush entirely, passing continuing resolutions to keep government running until Barack Obama could take office. At that time, they passed a massive omnibus spending bill to complete the 2009 budgets.

And where was Barack Obama during this time? He was a member of that very Congress that passed all of these massive spending bills, and he signed the omnibus bill as President to complete 2009.

If the Democrats inherited any deficit, it was the 2007 deficit, the last of the Republican budgets. That deficit was the lowest in five years, and the fourth straight decline in deficit spending. After that, Democrats in Congress took control of spending, and that includes Barack Obama, who voted for the budgets.

If Obama inherited anything, he inherited it from himself. In a nutshell, what Obama is saying is I inherited a deficit that I voted for and then I voted to expand that deficit four-fold since January 20th.

Now you have sufficient ammunition to silence any self-assured ProgLibs you may run into.

In the End, It’s Bush’s Fault

It was only a matter of time.  I hoped that it would not happen.  I thought I was the only one connecting ALL the dots.  And I was TRYING to keep it a secret.

Dang.

May 7, 2012, WASHINGTON (Reuters) - In a major new climate finding, researchers have calculated that dinosaur flatulence could have put enough methane into the atmosphere to warm the planet during the hot, wet Mesozoic era.

Like gigantic, long-necked, prehistoric cows, sauropod dinosaurs roamed widely around the Earth 150 million years ago, scientists reported in the journal Current Biology on Monday.

And just like big cows, their plant digestion was aided by methane-producing microbes.

“A simple mathematical model suggests that the microbes living in sauropod dinosaurs may have produced enough methane to have an important effect on the Mesozoic climate,” researcher Dave Wilkinson of Liverpool John Moores University said in a statement.

“Indeed, our calculations suggest that these dinosaurs could have produced more methane than all modern sources – both natural and man-made – put together,” Wilkinson said.

Methane is a potent greenhouse gas, with as much as 25 times the climate-warming potential as carbon dioxide.

This gas is enough of a factor in modern global warming that scientists have worked to figure out how much methane is emitted by cows, sheep and other plant-eating animals.

Calculating methane emissions from modern animals depends only on the total mass of the animals in question. A mid-sized sauropod probably weighed about 44,000 pounds (20,000 kilos), and there were a few dozen of them per square mile (kilometre), the researchers found.

They reckoned that global methane emissions from sauropods were about 520 million tons per year, comparable to all modern methane emissions. Unlike emissions of carbon dioxide, which come from natural sources but also from the burning of fossil fuels, methane emissions have decreased substantially since the start of the Industrial Revolution some 150 years ago.

Before the fossil-fuel intensive Industrial Revolution took off, methane emissions were roughly 200 million tons annually; modern ruminants, including cows, goats, giraffes and other animals, emit between 50 million and 100 million tons of methane a year.

Yes, it’s true.  Dinosaurs now rest deep below the Earth in gigantic pools of crude oil today, because…

They made too much gas.

I would like to take exception to the author’s comparison of dinosaurs to ‘long-necked prehistoric cows’.  The only ‘factual’ comparison between a cow and a dinosaur is that it can be factually stated that both species would ‘eat’ and then ‘toot’.  How come no one ever picks on elephants the way they pick on the friendly (and tasty) cow?

Here’s another MAJOR difference between dinosaurs and cows:  No one ever made a film about an island where kindly old scientists were cloning and raising prehistoric cows in secret (which, of course, escape from their barn yards, run amok, and ’gum’ unsuspecting tourists to death).  No, Spielberg never went there.  Why?  Because cows are not scary, cows are kind, and cows are our friends.

Stop the ‘Cow Hate’ Reuters!

Find another species to lay your pent-up Racial hatred upon – leave the White / Brown / Black Bovines alone!

In a related story, Michelle Obama, having read the article quoted above, is seeking to halt the sale of ‘Baked Beans’ across America in an effort to cut down on ‘Man-Made Global Methane’ Warming.  Effective immediately, all Beans are “Legumes Non Grata” and must be purged from your pantry under stiff penalty from the IRS.

In a statement issued from the White House, Michelle Obama said, “Effective immediately and henceforth, all Americans will purge these methane-producing products from their daily diets.  For too long we have stood idly by as Americans ‘pooted’ recklessly into the atmosphere, creating a toxic-stew of pollutants and foul gaseous expulsions.  If we are to save the Earth, we must eliminate all those things which WILL kill you people.  And since most of you folks are too stupid to live, we’ll do what we need to do to keep you from killing yourselves, and us, in the process.”

In conclusion, IF the Earth does die from too much methane, as stated above…

Yes, it’s all Bush’s fault.

Yes, I connect ALL the dots (even the ones which aren’t there).

Have a nice day, regardless…

In The Parallel Universe

President Barack Obama seems to be governing in some parallel universe — where the United States exists without mortal dangers threatening its economy and the nation’s most pressing exigency is the reelection of its president.

But when Obama swore to defend the Constitution, and therefore the nation, he did it in the dimension where the rest of us exist, where the economy appears to be headed toward its annual spring stall and an endless series of massive budget deficits threatens to unleash a financial crisis at any time.

While big issues simmer untended, our leader is focused like a laser beam on trivia that benefit him politically but do the country little or no good.

Obama devoted a full week this month to smacking the rich around with the “Buffett rule” — which his own advisers acknowledged was more a crusade for “fairness” than a way to fill the budget gap. This is approximately like complaining to a bank robber that he is cutting in line.

The president then launched a crusade to hire a new crew of federal enforcers to nab crafty oil speculators who might be driving up the price of gasoline — assuming these speculators exist.

This ploy was a model of PR efficiency. It not only portrayed Obama as riding to the rescue of motorists besieged by $4 a gallon gas, it showed him ready to slay a few more Wall Street types he’s set up as the boogeymen of his administration.

He moved on last week to solve the crisis that subsidized student loan rates might rise to their normal level — something everyone should have been planning for, because the end date of this benefit was set five years ago in a vote that he missed.

Obama has now been touting this marginal issue — which will very likely have a marginal payoff years from now in a workforce better educated by a wisp. White House press secretary Jay Carney stomped his feet about the fools who couldn’t perceive that this was an “investment” in the economy — what the White House always says about its spending programs that might have some unknown payoff years from now but do nothing to help us out of the mess we are in.

Meanwhile, no one knows at what point the markets will give up on the United States and determine that we are about as serious about curbing our spending bender as an alcoholic mixing cocktails at a 12-step meeting.

In November, I’m seriously hoping we throw the euphemistic drunk out on his arse so that the country can begin to come out from under his benders and resume a course fixated on recovery.

Seriously hoping.

TIME FOR ACTION

This may be the most important Video you will see this year.  We have contended with idiots, simpletons, horndogs, and buffoons over the years.  We have never faced a situation in which an enemy of America and who we are as a nation resides in the White House.

Barack Hussein Obama must be replaced in November.  To allow this man to stay in office for four more years will forever change our lives, our fortunes, our sacred honor.

Magic 8 Ball Tells All…

Another Sunday morning.  While the sun is rising in the east, I find myself again in front of the laptop attempting to bang out semi-coherent thoughts, hoping to make sense of them in the next several hundred words.  This, like most mornings, I wake with a head full of questions.

Questions of life, questions of politics, questions of economics, and questions of the things which, quite frankly, would drive a lesser man insane.

Hard questions require hard answers – and I’m just the guy to find them.  Yes, I’ve looked for the answers online. I’ve watched the news for the past three nights – but the answers I’m looking for there, do not appear.  Join me as I search for truth using the time-tested tool of scholars passed down from generation to generation (since 1950!).

In desperation, I rummage through my sons’ old toy box, dig down past the old Halloween masks, miscellaneous broken game remnants, and beneath a dog-earred copy of my oldest’s Boy Scout handbook I find what I’m looking for.

The Magic 8 Ball
I pull the Magic 8 Ball out from the toy box, walk to the kitchen, grab four paper towels, a bottle of Windex, and I proceed to remove almost a decade’s worth of dust and neglect from my scratched black friend (ahem, this is NOT a Racist comment – it’s a Magic 8 Ball, okay?  Don’t go there!).

A few sprays, a few wipes, then a few more sprays and a few more wipes, and Abracadabra – the Magic 8 Ball gleams anew!  My Portable Plastic Prophetical Orb stands by to answer my ‘Hard Questions’ on a Sunday morning:
I begin with the official Magic 8 Ball invocation (which I make up as I speak them aloud):

“Mighty Magic 8 Ball, answer my questions as quick as you can, I’ve got questions, more than I can stand.  Answer them true, answer them now, answer them for the man they call ‘The Cow’.  Answer my questions one, answer my questions all, answer my questions you wonderful Magical Ball.”

Question 1:  “Magic 8 Ball, after being stashed in the toy box for 10+ years, is there any magic left in you?”

Magic 8 Ball Response:   ”You may rely on it”

Question 2:  “Will the world end on December 21, 2012, as predicted by the Mayans?”

Magic 8 Ball Response:  “Ask again later”

Question 3:  “How much later, it’s only 8 months away?”

Magic 8 Ball Response:  “Better not tell you now”

[Okay, so the thing IS working -- now, on to the hard questions]

Question 4:  “I keep reading that American workers are no longer looking for jobs, so even though new unemployment claims are HIGHER than the number of jobs created, unemployment continues to FALL.  Will the Bureau of Labor Statistics continue to cover up the actual percentage of the unemployed until there’s a Republican in the White House?  Therefore making him / her look bad in comparison to Obama?”

Magic 8 Ball Response:  “Yes – definitely”

Question 5:  “Is it true that if the BLS used the number of workers in the work force in June of 2009 to calculate the true unemployment that the current rate of unemployment for April 2012 would be in excess of 11%, rather than the 8.1% figure released this week?”

Magic 8 Ball Response:  “It is decidedly so”

Question 6:  “I found this chart on Investors Business Daily which shows that 5.4 MILLION workers and families have been added to the ranks of the Disabled (receiving Disability benefits) since President Obama took office.  Also, that the rate of ‘newly disabled’ is TWICE the rate of new job creation in America.  Could this possibly be true?”

Magic 8 Ball Response:  “As I see it, yes”

Question 7:  “I mentioned in prior posts that no President (other than FDR) has ever been re-elected with an unemployment rate above 7.2% (the rate at Reagan’s re-election).  Do you believe that the fall in unemployment from 9+% to this week’s 8.1% is politically calculated vs. factually-based?”

Magic 8 Ball Response:  “Signs point to yes”

Question 8:  “Will President Obama be re-elected for a second term?”

Magic 8 Ball Response:  “Cannot predict now”

The above represent the 8 main questions I wanted answered this morning.  My boys’ Magic 8 Ball performed remarkably well for a toy which cost us less than $10 ten years ago.  As I was ready to re-open the toy box and toss the little black oracle back, another question came to me.

One that I thought I already knew the answer to, but I asked, nonetheless…

Question 9:  “Magic 8 Ball, what will the core focus of President Obama’s re-election campaign be?  Will he talk about his achievements in the Economy, in Health Care, in National Security?  What will he base his campaign on?”

I gave the ball a quick flip, angled the little dark window towards me, and read the following as it floated into view:

Magic 8 Ball Response:  “It’s George Bush’s fault”

Best $10 we ever spent on those kids…

Now if I could find one that gave stock advice, I’d have it made.
