It has been two-thirds of a century since the “Lone Super Power” has actually WON a war. How come? Being too nice? Lacking guts to do the job? Not really serious about winning? All the above?

And along comes Ronnie Paul (the ONLY Presidential Candidate ever having worn a uniform…Air Force OBGYN and experienced with the blood and sacrifice of those who have served so valiantly) who constantly tells us all would be “peace in the valley” if we were ONLY to stop “endlessly bombing those countries” Hearing this, his 9% (not 1% and not 99%”) cry in unison with the Doctor..”Bring them home! Bring them home!!”

Dr Ron smiles and knows in his heart he is right and has been right for several decades. A fellow who is kind of a Paul supporter had this to say in a Letter-to-the-Editor, “Playing global cop for the UN has done nothing for America nor has it created allies. We attack when attacked but we should attack with vengeance, as in nuclear.”

“Nuclear vengeance”? Count Doctor Ron out. He completely opposed Seal Team Six taking bin Laden out. Quoth Doctor Ron, “I am just suggesting there are processes that if you could follow that you should do it. There are proper procedures rather than digging bigger holes for ourselves.” (Never mind those souls who jumped from the WTC after a bin Laden orchestrated attack.)

Dr Ron constantly assures America that he does not want to demobilize our armed forces. He just wants to eliminate their travel expenses overseas. Additionally, he will rid our military of those non-essential items like $600 toilet seats. First idea…BAD, second idea…Good. Just keep them in their barracks, quoth he. Looks to me like he is a one-size fits all kind of guy. No nuance in him. Just “stop endlessly bombing countries.” Then the rubble won’t cause trouble and it will be Kumbaya time.

Think Obama agrees with Paul? Sounds like Obama-speak to me. Bring all our troops home from everywhere and good times are here again..with no pain. Once we rid ourselves of any and all responsibilities for that pesky part of the map marked “Rest Of The World” we can once again begin living the American dream. We talk “again.” When was that, I wonder? What would have happened had we stayed out of WWI? What would have happened had we avoided WWII? What would the Korean Peninsula look like under Kimmie Unnn? Would Saddam have been happy with a 19th Province called Kuwait? Perhaps it would now be bin Laden as the Afghanistan leader?

A fair number of people do not like applying the label “isolationist” to Dr Ron. What other name would you prefer? Suppose Obama gets his way and our troops are reduced by gargantuan amounts and our nuclear capability essentially eliminated unilaterally, AND we bring our troops back to their US barracks as Dr Ron wants. America will continue to remain the biggest, the fatest, most inviting target on the planet. In short, we may not be interested in the World but the World remains interested in us.

“America: Love Us Or Leave Us Be” may seem a dandy idea for our lovable crazed Uncle in the Attic but it seems a terrible concept when our future is morgaged to China and almost everything we own is made overseas.

Tonight is the night of another debate, this time in Arizona. I would prefer no more debates. Enough already. Having said that, let us hope all four of the debaters will keep their focus on the reason. We are approaching a golden opportunity to rid our nation of a cancer on the bodypolitic. My fervent wish is that they all keep him firmly in mind and focus on his RECORD. Obama is a formdable opponent. Many of the things he says and does is designed to shift focus away from that.

So…how will they do? Dr Ron will remain consistent. That is definitely one of his strengths. “Bring em home!” he will thunder. Santorum is another consistent one. I hope he will avoid the Obama trap on abortion/women in the service/ Satan focus on America. Gingrich will shine. He has likely been chaffing because he has not had one in a few weeks. He will again be able to face down CNN Moderator King. Romney will vision himself President of the United States, act and talk accordingly. Only one question remains. It is Ash Wednesday. Will Candidates Gingrich and Santorum have ashes on their foreheads?

It will take you 4 1/2 hours to drive 270 miles at 60 mph. Then add 10 hours to charge the battery and you have a total trip time of 14.5 hours. In a typical road trip your average speed (including charging time) would be 20 mph.

According to General Motors, the Volt battery hold 16 kwh of electricity. It takes a full 10 hours to charge a drained battery.

The cost for the electricity to charge the Volt is never mentioned so I looked up what I pay for electricity.

I pay approximately (it varies with amount used and the seasons) $1.16 per kwh.

16 kwh x $1.16 per kwh = $18.56 to charge the battery.

$18.56 per charge divided by 25 miles = $0.74 per mile to operate the Volt using the battery.

Compare this to a similar size car with a gasoline engine only that gets 32 mpg.

$3.19 per gallon divided by 32 mpg = $0.10 per mile.

The gasoline powered car cost about $15,000 while the Volt costs $46,000.

So our government wants us to pay 3 times as much for a car that costs more that 7 times as much to run, and takes 3 times as long to drive across country.

REALLY? It makes perfect sense to Obama.

In 2006 legislation was passed aiming at curbing false claims of military valor. It was designed to protect the system of military awards that was established during the Revolutionary War by General George Washington.

The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear the case Wednesday, which is the 280th anniversary of Washington’s birth. When Washington established military decorations in 1782, seven years before he was elected as the nations first President, Washington prescribed severe military punishment for soldiers who purported to be medal winners but weren’t.

Lying about heroism when you aren’t a hero and never were is nothing new. There have been “wanna-be hero’s” for many years. For a long time they were classified as cowards and blowhards and dismissed as liars and that was it. However, a young lady named Pam Sterner wrote a college term paper and it ended up in the Congress. She is the wife of a decorated VietNam warrior from Colorado. President Bush signed the legislation. This is what she wrote.

“They are committing fraud. They are impersonating somebody else. They are taking on attributes of somebody else, attributes of a hero who served honorably. When you do that, impersonating someone else, that is fraud, not freedom of speech.”

Time passes and along comes a “wanna-be,” a liar, and a coward. His name is Xavier Alvarez. He stood up at public meetings in Pomona, CA and called himself a wounded war veteran who had received the top military award, the Medal of Honor. Alvarez lied about his medal, his wounds, and his military service. Alvarez lied about many things, to include rescuing the American Ambassador during the Iranian hostage crisis and was shot when he went back for the US flag.

                                                            The Medal of Honor

This issue has a degree of bipartisan support. However, civil liberties groups (read ACLU) and some news media outlets, including the Associated Press, have told the Justices they worry the law could lead to more attempts to regulate speech. As you might suppose, as the case wended its’ way through appeal, a three-judge panel of the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals In San Francisco struck down the law as an unconstitutional restraint on free speech and said the government might instead invest in an awards data base that would make it harder for people to lay claim to medals they never won.

Just last month, the 10th US Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver upheld the law in a separate case, saying the First Amendment does not always protect false statements. Thomas A Cuttrone Jr, a retired FBI Agent who investigated phony award cases, had this to say: “The admiration and respect for the military ioncreased dramatically after 9/11, and the false claims as well”

It will be interesting to see how this case turns out. Veterans groups throughout America are very much in favor of prosecution. “Forever” is too.

Oh, and thanks for the $50 BILLION loan…

On Friday I speculated (yes, I ’speculate’ in public) as to why President Obama would want to increase the existing $7,500 Tax Credit on Electric Vehicles to $10,000. IF the Chevrolet Volt is as good as GM says it is, people should be flocking to put down the $46,000 required to be one of the first kids on the block to own one.

Will this increased Tax Credit ever see the light of day? No, probably not. Why? Because the provision was in the President’s Budget submitted to Congress last week.

That question you are probably asking yourself is, “Why won’t the legislation move forward – what’s preventing the President’s Budget from being approved?” Excellent, question thanks for asking!

Well, that’s because the Democratically-led Senate will not VOTE on the Obama budget submitted by the Democratically-led Executive Branch. It’s TOXIC (and when other Democratic lawmakers realize this, um, it’s really bad).

The interesting thing is that John Boehner, the Republican Speaker of the House, DOES want to vote on the President’s Budget.

Why? Because ”It’s TOXIC.” So much so that Boehner wants the Bill discussed so all Americans can hear what the President believes THEY ought to be spending THEIR money on. Since Congress hasn’t passed a Constitutionally-Required Budget in over 1,000 days (that’s over 8,500 days in ‘dog days’), sure, what the heck, might as well vote on the Deficit-reducing, pro-Business, OWS-loving, and freedoms-reducing Obama Budget, right? At least it’s something with ‘Budget’ in the title…

Huh, what’s that? Sheesh, what’s with all the questions today? Now you want to know why the Congress hasn’t proposed a Budget in over three years?

Because for the two years the Democrats held the House and Senate, they were much too busy passing important life-altering legislation than to worry about, you know… Budgets. Health care needed fixing, Osama Bin-Laden needed to be killed (President Obama did this himself), the Economy needed to be trashed, and the military needed to be reduced, you know, since President Obama personally killed OBL.

And now that the Republican House Leadership has passed and submitted multiple Budgets to the Senate, Harry Reid won’t allow votes on them. If nothing else, Harry Reid is consistent.

But alas, I have once again fallen victim to my own ‘trackless’ train of thought. Let’s get back to the good stuff, shall we???

So why is the President hawking the $10,000 EV (‘Electric Vehicle’) Tax Credit in his proposed budget? It’s a financial ‘Shout Out’ to the Union Workers who continue to benefit from President Obama’s legislative decisions from a few years back. The credit may never see the light of day, but gosh golly, would a Republican throw the UAW dogs a ‘virtual bone’ like this? Yeah, probably.

Why? AGAIN WITH THE QUESTIONS!?!?! Yikes! Because not all Republicans are Conservative, of course. And when you’re a moderate, a liberal, or a progressive, you ‘Dance with the one who brung you’ regardless of WHO you are.

However, if you get a REALLY Liberal Democrat President in the White House, you know he’s going to give to the Unions what they want to garner their support… Anything.

Even once-independent car companies.

And how will these union-owned institutions repay the American people who loaned them $70+ BILLION dollars? According to the Wall Street Journal’s Sharon Terlep:

General Motors Co. is freezing the pay of its 26,000 U.S. salaried employees and will eliminate its traditional pension contribution for those salaried workers who still receive them in moves to reduce financial risks and cut costs.

The Detroit company also will shrink the 2011 bonus for all salaried U.S. workers because it failed to meet its financial goals last year, people familiar with the matter said.

The changes come as GM prepares to disclose on Thursday a record annual profit of around $8 billion for 2011…

…

The company will pay smaller annual bonuses to most white-collar (non-union) workers despite an expected record profit because net income is only one factor in determining payouts…

The auto maker’s 48,500 United Auto Workers-represented hourly workers receive bonuses under a different formula, which hinges on profitability and quality.

Next up, an article from ‘Sweetness & Light’ quoting the Associated Press and discussing the projected bonuses provided to Union Workers at GM. Employees in a Union-Run Business (still owned are apparently NOT equal in the eyes of Union Leadership. (Okay, not really a surprise, but it does provide additional validation for the whole “Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely” quote).

I wonder, how many Americans know that THEY still own 27% of the ‘New GM’? And if so, would they approve of the bonuses paid ONLY to Union Thugs (um, workers, I meant skilled-workers) in lieu of their getting repaid the still outstanding multi-Billion dollar debt to taxpayers? I wonder…

Okay, here we go, from Sweetness & Light (their commentary is in RED):

DETROIT (AP) – General Motors earned its largest profit ever in 2011, two years after it nearly collapsed into financial ruin… The 103-year-old company made $7.6 billion in 2011, up 62% from 2010.

Mind you, since 27% of GM is still owned by the government, these figures are, in effect, coming from the Obama administration as well as the United Auto Workers. So they are probably as accurate as the current unemployment numbers.

GM also said Thursday that its 47,500 blue-collar workers in the U.S. will get $7,000 profit-sharing checks in March. The checks are based on North American performance and are a record for the company…

…

GM is a vastly different company than it was then. It’s smaller and has less debt, and its contract with the United Auto Workers is less costly…

Yes, the UAW’s pension fund was bailed out, and the union was given the company they destroyed, in exchange for a “less costly” contract.

That is what is known as “fairness.”

But it took a government bailout and a trip through bankruptcy protection in 2009 to cut its bloated costs. The restructured company was able to make record profit last year, even though U.S. auto sales were near historic lows at 12.8 million cars and trucks…

Again, these profit reports are coming from the Obama administration. And who knows how much they have been ‘seasonally adjusted’ to give Obama something to crow about?

Also bear in mind that GM will not have to pay any federal taxes for the next ten years. (Which was another payback to the UAW for their loyal support of Obama and the Democrat party.)

So, even though General Motors has made the biggest profit in its history, it will pay less tax than Warren Buffet’s secretary. — Where is the outrage?

Where’s the outrage?

Oh, it’s coming. Oh, but it’s not from you.

It’s from them, the Tin Men and Women of the UAW and their Brother and Sister Union organizations.

“Memo: From Leni Riefenstahl

To: President Barack Obama

Schatzi, it’s been over a year since I last wrote you. Please forgive me. It’s been so hot here I can barely stand to touch the keyboard. Not that I don’t appreciate the green energy projects you funded to cool off this place, but dear, you know even with the trillions you spent, those projects just keep going under. Yes, I know it helped put billions in the pockets of your donors, but hell is not freezing over you know and we could use energy for the air conditioners.

Anyway, I forced myself to endure the scorching temperatures and pitchforks to congratulate you on those brilliant HHS regulations forcing people to fund insurance coverage for abortions, sterilizations and birth control against their consciences.

Darling Adolf just loved to do that sort of thing. Remember — are you old and well read enough to remember? He figured out that if he could get people to operate against their conscience on small things, big things like Judenrein would be easier. Of course, that was just a start.

Martin Bormann said it just right: “National Socialism and Christianity are irreconcilable.” For the party to rule, he said the Churches’ influence in the leadership of the people “must absolutely and finally be broken.” He was taking about the Nazi party, but heavens, Democrats, Nazis — state control is state control.

So, this move by your Administration is just a great first step. You had all the social justice crowd in the church supporting you ,and now those wicked bishops — how many divisions do they have anyway? — had to step in to try to put a stop to this.

Well, the match is set.

On your side you have some real geniuses. I mean all the media is helping you sell the fairytale that you are battling people who want to force women to forego contraceptives. Debbie Wasserman Schultz is a real feather in your cap; arguing that all women deserve free contraceptives and that religious institutions shouldn’t be imposing their values on their employees is, you should pardon the expression, pure Goebbels. And you can count on the press to let her get away with this big lie.

The media want to replace old fashioned religion with civic religion as much as you and I do. So, some Catholics have and continue to threaten to shut down their social welfare services rather than comply with such things? Great. The sooner the people learn that the state is the provider of all things, the better — for you and your party. Of course, not necessarily better for them or their country, but that’s not the point, is it?

I suppose you have some other good ideas in the wings at HHS . Off the top of my head here are some ideas for you: Make public schools serve pork and require all kids to eat it; force Christian Scientists to see physicians and take medicine; make the Mormon Tabernacle Choir admit Moslems; ban religious circumcisions of males; draft the Amish into the military; outlaw Lutheran lutefisk parties and bake sales.

My goodness, the possibilities once you control the levers of power! And what could possibly give you more power than controlling healthcare delivery? Imagine the rake offs, too. Plastic surgeons want liposuction and botox coverage? Let them kick in to your party. Somebody’s poor mom is too old for treatment, cross your palm with silver and a hospital bed becomes available. Why am I telling you this, you of all people? I mean Mr. President Chicago Way, right?

And then your opponents are playing this rather stupidly. Letting you and the press frame this as a women’s rights issue, not a Constitutional issue. (Is it just gossip or is it true that Harvard Law School where you attended and the University of Chicago Law School where you were a lecturer, are mortified? Who cares. That Constitution is so old and updated anyway. Ask Justice Ginsburg, even she’s not crazy about it.) Maybe next year you can wait until Congress is in recess and replace it with something newer from Zimbabwe. Well, you certainly don’t need me to advise you on how to destroy religion or the Constitution.

I was delighted to see how you are reviving the Sturmabteilung. Of course, you can’t credit us — we all discussed it here and understand. Calling it a Truth Team, a “grassroots communications team” will go over much better, but , schatzi, we all know where you got that idea. The explanation is another bit of brilliant propaganda: “The goal is to ensure that when Republicans attack President Obama’s record, grassroots supporters can take ownership of the campaign and share the facts with the undecided voters in their lives.”

I mean even Michelle Obama’s Mirror calls it the “SS. See something, Say something.” I think she means it sarcastically but check out the great logos she’s come up for the Truth Team!! We couldn’t do better and we tried in between roastings.

She didn’t even get to Project Narwhal, a data-mining outreach operation designed to snare even more low information voters than the media can rope in.

And it’s working on ill-educated single women, who’d apparently gladly give up their right to worship as they choose in order to get someone else to pick up their contraception tab, never realizing they’re giving up something for nothing, because there really is no free lunch.

I figure a couple years of this and there will be no private insurance companies because they’ll be run out of business, or employer provided health insurance because it’s all going to be too expensive. And then you’ll have the entire country in the palm of your hand.

If I had a heart, liebchen, it would be singing right now.

P.S. I keep meaning to tell you — when you tilt your chin skyward like that, you remind me so of the Italian heart throb Benito.”

We joke about regulations that are “strangulating” us. It really is no laughing matter. The Obama, continually pandering to anyone he thinks may actually be stupid enough to give him a second term, tells America that he is “working on it.” Nonsense. He is tripling regulations. That is all he knows. You have heard of the Peter Principle, I would assume. Obama proved this when he reached beyond his Chicago “Community Organizer” status and he has been proving this ever since.

It is beyond bad that regulations have tripled under his watch but the theory they are needed to “guide his subjects” has permeated, it seems, to all levels of government And, get this, many are absolutely ludicrous. Example: The Federal railroad Administration insists that all trains must be painted with an “F” at the front, so you can tell which end is which. (I would suppose it will necessarily follow that we now will need an “E” at the end.)

But wait. It gets worse. Bureaucratic busybodies in Bethesda, MD have shut down childen’s lemonade stands because the enterprising young moppets did not have trading licenses. The list of ludicrous legislation appears endless.

You have often heard the phrase, “The road to hell is paved by good intentions.” Unexpected consequences is perhaps a better way of looking at it.Consider the Dodd-Frank Bill of 2010. The purpose was to prevent another financial crisis. The ideas were reasonable: improve transparency, stop banks from taking excessive risks, prevent abusive financial practices, and end “too big to fail” by authorizing regultors to seize any tottering financial firm and wind it down.

What has been wrought?

848 pages of gobbledegook is what we got. Loosey-goosey garbage requires regulators fill in more specific details, one would suppose, as we go along. A few clarifications have now been written, each more than 100 pages in length. This monstrosity has more than 400 rules, only 93 of which have been finalized. Consequently, American financial firms must prepare to comply with a law that is partly unintellible and partly unknowable. As Pelosi famously said as it relates to the Obamacare Bill..”We have to pass it to know what is in it.” Well, they did and I will bet you hardly anyone has ever read it, even at this date.

                                                                   Barny and Chris

Obamacare is the big legislative bonanza, isn’t it? In addition to it being unconstitutional, and wildly unpopular, its complexity is staggering indeed. Every hour treating a patient in America creates a minimum of 30-minutes of paperwork, and often an entire hour. Next year, the number of federally mandated cztegories of illness and injury for which hospitals may claim reimbursement will rise from 18,000 to 140,000. Do not forget silliness is involved across the board with all sorts of legislation and Obamacare is no exception. There are nine codes relating to injuries caused by PARROTS and three relating to burns from FLAMING WATER SKIs.

Keep in mind that the ProgLibs are a party of lawyers who have almost zero real world business experience. Therefore, complexity is a given. Complexity costs money. Sarbanes-Oxley was a law aimed at preventing Enron-style frauds. Unexpected consequences? It is now so difficult to list shares on an American stockmarket that firms increasingly look elsewhere or stay private. America’s share of initial public offerings fell from 67% in 2002 (when Sarbanes-Oxley passed) to a mere 16% last year.

We absolutely must be smarter about all this. For starters, take a meat axe to many/most(?) new regulations, maybe even more than a few old regulations. The GOP talks tough about cutting regulations but we will just have to wait and see, won’t we? Like “We have an App for that,” Obama has a Czar for that. His Czar guy is going to really slash, according to the Obama. Oh really? Perhaps you are interested in buying a bridge I am selling.

Just a few ideas for our next White House resident: Try simplicity. Attack one “challenge” at a time. Require a cost-benefit analysis by an independent watchdog. Include a “sunset” provision on all legisslation, ie; at the end of, say, five years, the legislation ceases to exist unless specifically re-enacted. Legislative regulators who make bad decisions should be immediately fired. Always keep in mind Murphy’s rule that if something can go wrong good chance it will. These ideas are at least a start in the right direction.

Keep this parting thought in mind: Some days you are the dog, some days you are the tree. How is your day going?

“It is painful for me to have to write this column, just as it is always painful to write about the loss of something or someone near and dear to us — but finally the truth must be told:

The country I grew up in — the republic of the United States of America — is dead. What is left in its place is a sham, a shell, a rat’s nest of teeth and claws and strangulating regulations and laws — a post-holocaust zombieland that has the appearance of life, but survives only by sucking the blood out of its own increasingly despondent inhabitants.

This last week, the republic made one last desperate stand before its heart was ripped out and savagely displayed in the gladiator’s arena that is cable news. Were there any good and gentle citizens left watching, their countenances must surely have darkened when they saw the seething, wrathful creatures of Washington toying with the flayed remains of the Constitution.

I spent all week trying to avoid this story, telling myself that there must be some mistake. It’s not possible that so many could have turned their back on the plight of liberty, not conceivable that so few could rise to defend the honor of that great lady.

But as I slowly worked through the five stages of grief, at last my denial gave way to anger. It was no surprise to me that the Obama administration had decided to play a game called “Hide the First Amendment,” in which for the sake of so-called progressive policy, the freedoms we hold dear were trampled underfoot. But what made me truly angry was the nearly universal yawn that greeted this miscarriage of justice.

I’m not going to dwell in great depth on the details. Suffice it to say that it was the masterful ability of President Obama and his allies to obscure the big picture, and divert people’s attention to the minuscule details, that made it possible for them to look like heroes for agreeing to trade religious freedom for a mess of pottage, er, I mean, contraceptives.

Here is the end of America in a nutshell:

The Constitution guarantees religious freedom in the First Amendment, which declares in part that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech.”

The Obama administration, with the willing compliance of a near silent populace, has decided that this amendment’s protections do not apply to any expression of religious conviction that is unpopular, unscientific or unsympathetic. In particular, the administration has mandated that the Obamacare law shall require employers to pay for (or provide for) contraceptives that are offered to employees as a free benefit in any health-insurance plan.

Incredibly, the national media and most politicians have allowed this to be framed as a debate about whether people should be prevented from having access to contraceptives. Supposedly, the evil Republicans have launched a “culture war” against women, and in particular poor women, to keep them in a state of “indentured pregnitude” and to deny them their supposed constitutional right to enjoy an active sex life without risk of procreation.

Honestly, I am aghast. Not by what was done to poor women, but by what was done to the truth. Could it be any more ravaged? Could a lie be any more brutal? Could the sham be any more transparent?

Let’s get this straight. No one is trying to deny women anything. Take away the employer mandate, and women could still buy contraceptives. If they couldn’t afford them, they would still be able to get them from a variety of public and private sources for free. And if they didn’t like working for employers who refuse to offer contraceptive care as part of their health-insurance plan, they could always quit. That is (or should I say was?) the American way.

What’s not (and never was) the American way is telling the Catholic Church, or any other church — or for that matter, any human being —that they must violate their conscience or their religious beliefs at the command of the government. If ordering the church to provide contraceptives against the church’s explicit moral teaching is not an outrage, then what is? If Obama’s interpretation of the congressional law officially known as the Affordable Care Act is not determined to be a blatant attempt to “prohibit the free exercise” of religion by Catholics and others who share their beliefs, then the sun of liberty will never again rise on the United States of America.

I am well aware that this position, like the Constitution itself, is regarded by some liberals as old-fashioned, even quaint, but if we are not as citizens all sworn by our sacred honor to “preserve, protect and defend” the Constitution, then it is indeed a foregone conclusion that the republic is “not merely dead, but really most sincerely dead.”

Of course, there are those among us who have bargained gamely with our conscience to convince ourselves that the president of the United States could not possibly have violated his oath of office. President Obama, after all, heard the bishops’ complaints when he initially ordered religious institutions to pay for contraceptives they did not believe in. And yes, he did change the initial policy so that church-run hospitals, orphanages and adoption agencies could instead offer “free” contraceptives to their employees.

This “accommodation,” as it has been called, is supposed to satisfy everyone that religious liberty has been preserved. Never mind that the church’s moral authority has been undermined by the state —that the convenience of the masses has been granted supremacy over the conscience of the individual — you are just supposed to accept the “compromise” and get back to work digging your own grave. Face it, this is an accommodation in exactly the same measure that the lodging at Auschwitz or Buchenwald could be called an accommodation to the Jews imprisoned there while awaiting execution.

Is it any wonder that I am depressed? It was bad enough when the Congress told all citizens of this country that we did not control our own health destiny — that we either accepted the dictates of the government or would be fined accordingly. But now, to be told that the state controls not only our medical choices but also our moral choices — that is really too much to bear. My heart is broken. The ultimate indignity of watching my fellow citizens be forced to recant their precious beliefs, to see their faith trampled upon, could not help but make me feel ashamed of the brutality of oppression done in the false name of American progress.

But ultimately, I have to accept the world — the nation — as it is. The outcome is not in my hands. I did my part to warn against it. I shouted as loud as I could, and if I failed, I did so while fighting. Now it is time to adjust to a land that has fallen into shadow. It will take time, but it is not impossible to imagine a day when we will once again see the bright light of conscience restored, when liberty will once again wear a crown.

It just may not happen in my lifetime.”

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?….. I served in the United States Army for twenty years. Two of those years were in Vietnam. Four years were in Germany, one of which was spent with the Berlin Brigade. Thirteen months I was up on the Korean DMZ with the Second Infantry Division. I also taught at the Home of the Infantry in Fort Benning, Georgia as we prepared our young Captains to serve in Vietnam. Our Armed Forces are great now and they were great then.

However…

Our Soldiers, Sailors and Marines are now required to accept and appreciate as brothers-in-arms men who are not like them. They prefer other men, or in the case of females, other women. I agree with those that say homosexuality is one of two things: a lifestyle choice or an aberration at birth. Either way, I have no quarrel with them. I do have a major quarrel with ProgLibs who would make those who’s mission is to defend our America into a social-experiment.

The latest “sensitivity” training our troops must undergo is requiring them to understand just how difficult it is for pregnant females to do PT. You read that right. The Army is ordering its battle-hardened combat veterans to wear fake breasts and “empathy bellies” so they can better understand how pregnant soldiers feel during physical training. Army enlisted leaders all over the world are being ordered to take the “Pregnancy PostpartumTraining Exercise Leaders Course , or PPPT, as it is affectionately called.

Our soldiers in Afghanistan know full well that Obama is now “negotiating” with the Taliban. Considering the onerous “Rules of Engagement” under which they operate, do you sometimes wonder if the soldier worries, “Am I to be the last soldier to die for a cause that this President no longer believes?”

GOVERNMENT CONTROL EXTENDS TO SACK LUNCHES…..North Carolina officials have said there was a misunderstanding when a preschooler’s home made sack lunch was sent home for not meeting government nutritional requirements. Now, a second Mom has come forward, saying the same thing happened to her daughter. The non-nutritional lunch? Check this out. A cheese and salami sandwich on a wheat bun with apple juice. The child was forced to eat in the school cafeteria. What nutritional food did she get? Chicken nuggets, a sweet potato, bread, and milk. And Mom got a bill from the school for that. Geez!

THE APPROACHING ELECTION…..The cry to abolish the electoral college and decide Presidential elections purely on the popular vote comes continually from ProgLibs. Their argument might have some merit if they weren’t so obsessed on obstructing voter ID. This obstruction is based on the fact that they want to continue collecting votes from people who have no legal right to cast them. Again this November, be careful in graveyard areas. Thousands of residents will be rushing out to vote.

WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS STAYS IN VEGAS…..Ever hear of a restaurant in Las Vegas called “The Heart Attack Grill”? This restaurant opened last October and is doing a brisk business today. It delights (and is famous) for serving high-calorie, high-fat foods. Foods on the restaurant menu are called “Flatliner Fries” and By-Pass Burgers. You get the idea. A single meal can easily exceed 8,000 calories. The owner strolls around with a white coat and a stethescope. The waitresses wear nurse costumes with nurse hats. The patrons don hospital gowns. The restaurant glorifies bad eating habits and brags you can eat free if you weigh-in over 350 pounds.

Bad news. Last week a fellow actually had a heart attack while enjoying his calories. Patrons thought this was part of the act and snapped away with their cameras and cellphones. They were having a high old time until they realized what had happened. Perhaps medics showing up on the scene may have been a clue. Apparently, the guy has recovered and that is good. I think I will check this place out next time I am in Vegas. It is on Fremont Street, by the way.

HARSH REALITY….While Lord Obama goes tooling around the country “governing” and telling his adoring fans why he needs four more years to complete his transformation, our Nation is in disastrous shape. You would never know this if you only view the alphabet MSM and their print acolytes. We will close today with this chart. Please consider the ramifications if this continues. Let your love of America bring you to action.

“The reaction to Ron Paul’s ascent in the polls — especially now that he has a shot at winning the Iowa caucuses — has been severe, with critics raising questions regarding his apparent September 11th “truther-ism” and ill-advised statements found in newsletters Paul distributed in the 1990s.

National Review columnist Mark Steyn, author of “After America: Get Ready for Armageddon,” says all of this is evidence that Paul is a flawed candidate. In his regular appearance on Hugh Hewitt’s radio show on Thursday, Steyn explained why the “truther-ism” aspects of Paul’s and his supporters’ beliefs wouldn’t hold up.

“This by the way is not an irrelevant thing because it gets to the heart of the most disfiguring aspect of Ron Paul’s campaign — leaving aside his unpleasantness to Michele Bachmann the other night and all the rest of it — which is this stunted parochialism.” Steyn said. “Let’s say for a moment 9/11 was an inside job. Does that also mean the Bali night club bombing was an inside job? That the Madrid train bombing was an inside job? That the Beslan school shooting was an inside job? That the London tube bombings were an inside job? In that case, that’s one hell of a sum to be hiding somewhere within the darkest recesses of Dick Cheney’s specific line items.”

And that, says Steyn, along with his isolationist view on foreign policy, is where Paul “meets the left.”

“So we’re getting here into what is the problem with Ron Paul, which is the sheer stupid half-witted parochialism of his view of what’s going on out on the planet,” he said. “And that’s why this is — this is a kind of utopian isolationism that fantasists on the right have embraced and at its darkest side, it meets the left coming around the other way in 9/11 truther conspiracy theories.”

Steyn also turned his attention toward Paul’s controversial newsletters from the 1990s.

Steyn raised the question that if Paul is unable to hold his newsletter to strict standards — in which accusations that Martin Luther King Jr. had sex with young boys made its way into print — is he capable of being the president of the United States?

“When a guy says, you know he signs off on Martin Luther King had sex with underage boys and then he says, ‘Oh I don’t know how that got into my newsletter. It must be an unpaid intern.’ I mean, if for example at SteynOnline.com, or HughHewitt.com — a statement to the effect that Martin Luther King was having sex with underage boys appeared, and you or I said, ‘Oh I have no idea how that got up there. I’m a busy chap. I can’t possibly be expected to take note of everything that appears there’ — whether you believe me or not, you have at least had it confirmed to you that if I can’t run a small modest publishing enterprise. I shouldn’t be entrusted with the government of the United States. He’s basically said the buck doesn’t stop here.”
