NET NEUTRALITY

The internet is a creation of the free market.  It has brought about a revolution in communication, free speech, education, and commerce.  The new Obama appointed chair of the FCC, Julius Grenachowski, seems to think this is all small stuff.  He believes that, by government decree, it must be made far more “fair,” “open,” and “free.”  Of course he does.  look at who appointed him.

Here is where he is going with this misnamed idea called “Net Neutrality.”  He wants the FCC to be given total power to decide how every bit of data is transferred from the Web to every personal computer and hand held device in the nation.  This has absolutely NOTHING to do with freedom.  It has EVERYTHING to do with socialism.  In short, it is one more Obama government power-grab.

Julius was a classmate of Obama at Harvard.  He also previously worked for Chuck Schumer.  Net Neutrality has many supporters, among them is Move-On, ACLU, and ACORN.  (Red Flags anyone???)  There are several major outfits in support of this mistake too, in addition to many members of the House and the Senate.  One more time, the controversy is divided pretty much along party lines, with the Proglibs in favor and the Republicans in opposition.

Here is what the new Chair intends to do.  Boost FCC authority over broadband providers through a controversial process known as reclassification.  The process could give federal regulators the power to impose net-neutrality (there are those words again), which could prevent internet access providers from favoring some content and applications over others.  If successful, this venture will establish a massive regulatory regime that will most certainly stile internet growth.

As it stands now, the internet has a wild-west- frontier-anything-goes flavor and we should keep it that way.  There is something to be said for keeping the internet out of the hands of “proglib” planners.  Case in point, an Obama Czar named Cass Sunstein (University of Chicago Law Professor) fits right in with the wacky loons and crazies Obama has appointed over the months.  Google Cass and you will find out just how whacked out he really is.  On this net-neutrality scheme, he would “manage” the internet by establishing regulations that ensure all internet users are manditorily exposed to various political viewpoints.

This is Cass…scary, huh?

Notice a pattern here.  The Obama EPA, realizing that “Cap and Tax” is not going to make it with this congress, and more than likely FOR SURE not going to make it with the next, is busily writing regulations that will essentially accomplish Obama and his Bots desires.  That would be TOTAL GOVERNMENT CONTROL by way of explanation for those who live in their parents basements and play with their I-POds.  The FCC will attempt this same thing.

Rumor has it this will be the newest
Czar, or I guess, Czarina.

There is nothing whatsoever wrong with “thinking out of the box.”  The internet is a really big place with lots of room for innovation and experimentation.  I would certainly favor that, as would most Americans.  Just look how far we have come in such a relatively short period of time.  In the final analysis, I think we all know this is all about Obama CONTROL.  Include two more Obama pet ideas while we are on this topic because if all boils down to this.  The so called “Fairness Doctrine” and “Card-Check” are very much still around…just temporarily on the back burner.

                 The perfect solution

Hopefully, everyone reading “Right Turn” has either already voted or are planning on scurrying to the polls.  They are open till 7:00pm most places.  Predictions and Desires?  Here are mine.  Rubio wins in Florida, as does Scott.  Meeks will be the Dem nominee.  Want to have some fun.  Watch TV tonight and switch between the Channels carrying coverage.  See if there might be a bit of difference in the slant

Oh no. Didn’t that hahvad circle of friends and acquaintences create this mess? Ten weeks to moderation, and roughly 29 months until salvation.

On an aside, Have any Right leaning commenters been poofing “Talk To Me”? Pretty easy to see who is getting worried.

Kinda looking like they had/have their priorities messed up. You don’t get a 2nd chance to make a good 1st impression.

Just saying, the mole did imply tit4tat. I’d hate to go that route, but just as my vote cancels out one liberal, if “Talk To Me” gets deleted as often as “Right Turn” maybe the foolishness would stop.

USMC…I do indeed find it refreshing to be confident I can write here and not get censored. Any comment on this net-neutrality farce?

Here is something you can perhaps mull around.

    I got that posted…

Gabe, combine the Net Neutrality with the Liberman proposal and at the whim of a President, any President you have created the most effective Government Propaganda Scheme in the history of man.

Appears they really are concerned about all those bennies. Oh well, we tried to warn them.8/24/2010 6:12 PM EDT on floridatoday.com

Good to see they are getting the facts before malisciously reporting abuse on comments that do not violate the FT TOS.

Grumpy -- Great Blog. As to that spinal cord support, sean penn, michael moore, and bill maher also hope VP Cheney and Rush get cancer. Then there is that dim wit on FT who hopes I go blind. Evidently hypocrisy or a feeble attempt to become an honorary member of the journolists

“feeble attempt to become an honorary member of the journolists”

I had a seventh grade teacher who flunked kids that put together better presentations thean he did. She was a bit of a “B”. Mean as she was she’s probably still kicking. Bet she’s screaming too— the thought of kids using computers for school would be to much.

Grumpy…Combining Net-Neutrality with that Lieberman proposal would destroy free speech in America and, as you say, create perfect ground for a Propaganda Czar.

The great thing about internet and wireless technology is that it is quickly advancing to the point that paying Brighthouse for access to the internet may one day be unneeded.

My point being… Do you need to buy Microsoft Word? Nope! You can download a free emulator that will not only open Word documents but allow you to write and save documents to the many other pay for word processing software types that exist.

We do not need to pay for much any more because my generation of computer geeks HATES software that must be bought; so they write their own and share it with the world.

One day, wireless devices may exist that allow us to connect to internet servers at no cost. Where there is a will, there is a way. Where there is a Marxist homegrown man-caused disaster taking away our freedoms; there is a capitalist American piss’n the Marxist off with free stuff.

    Rengineer…Sounds good to me.
